This is unbelievable!!!!! I wrote a story and was going to post it on my blog, but first I decided to search for an image to illustrate it. Since the Kosy Korner restaurant has a 'featured role' in my story, I decided to look for an image of it. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that I would hit on this!!!!!!!! Michael Litvack!! When were you there? My family went for several years during the 1950s. Plage Laval! I was just a young kid but my memories are sharp! I would love to send you my story. Then you can tell me if it's ok for me to use this gorgeous painting to illustrate it. Of course with a big credit to you!!! What do you say? I'm at ellie @ presner . com (without the spaces). Thanks! - Ellie

Artist's Description

I got a grey and black photo from B.C.;the only time that I've seen a picture of this dance hall that was very popular when Glenn Miller and Percy Faith supplied the music, amongst other top orchestras. It was a place to go; an escape from Montreal, and a cool night at the beach. It has since been torn down, but not the memories! Have a Coke and a hot dog...relax.....

...I enjoy painting in what I call ,"Pseudo naive cartoon Abstractism", featuring bright colours in very simplistic forms. A happy feeling exudes from my works as they are all based on features from the present and past. Usually a car or bicycle shows up somewhere in the picture. I work only in acrylics with black pencil art markers. I took a 1 year fine arts university course back in 1964, and then dropped it completely until 10 years ago. My works have gone in 2 directions: the landmark paintings, and the everyday situations featuring "little people". People tell me they can "connect" with my historical view of the passing scene. Signs and commercial store fronts are a key to my paintings.Take a close look at the signs...often a little...
