Rags,Clothes, Bottles Montreal Laneways 1920'ss
Artist
Michael Litvack
Medium
Painting - Acrylic On Canvas
Description
The 1920's in Montreal's back lanes, where a family could eke out a living, in a penny business. This was probably that second way to make the rent that was due, the first being a vegetable pushcart. These menial occupations grew in some cases to be giants in Montreal's food and scrap steel demolition industries. The painting is from a scene in the 1970's film, Lies my Father Told Me,with the Zaydie, dressed in Hassidic garb, teaching his wide eyed grandson the story of life.
